Employment and Social Developments in Europe 2021
The European Commission has published the the 2021 edition of the European Employment and Social Developments in Europe (ESDE) review. The ESDE review shows that the social impact of the COVID-19 crisis has been diverse.
Conference on the Future of Europe
The aim of the conference is to involve citizens more closely in shaping EU political strategies. Via an interactive multilingual digital platform, citizens can participate in or organize events. People can get in touch and discuss their proposals and ideas with other EU citizens in the 24 official EU languages. The official hashtag of the conference is #TheFutureIsYours.
European Social Summit
At the social summit in Portugal on May 7th, in a commitment from Porto, the EU states committed themselves to the specific headline targets for 2030 set in the Commission's action plan on the European Pillar of Social Rights: An employment rate of at least 78 percent in of the EU. At least 60 percent of adults should attend training courses each year and the number of people at risk of poverty and social exclusion should be reduced by at least 15 million.
European Pillar of Social Rights: action plan and headline targets
With an action plan, the European Commission has put forward proposals for further concrete measures towards a strong social Europe. The action plan also sets out headline targets for the EU in the areas of employment, skills and social protection to be achieved by 2030.

Giving all young people equal opportunities in the labour market and thus laying the foundations for a self-determined life is an objective of the European Social Fund (ESF). The experience gained from the European learning network "TLN-Mobility" shows how much a transnational mobility programme can contribute.
